On my last night in Australia I decided that it would be best to stay up all night since my flight home was at noon. This would allow me to be able to sleep on the plane because we would arrive in L.A. at 7am. So from what I figured this would help me adjust to the huge time change easier. But Missy and I had plenty to do that night from packing to cleaning and all sorts of fun things. I decided to document the evening with videos.
And here they are...
And the night continues...
As we were cleaning out our pantry we realized we had a lot of left over "aluminium" foil and parchment paper. So what did we do? We decided to wear ALL of it and dance on our coffee table! And in this next video we didn't adjust the camera correctly...so our heads are cut off.
More dancing...
Even more dancing...
Time to do the dishes!
Australian Cicadas ewww.
Before we cleaned the floor...
And this is how we dry the floor.
Australian Sunrise.
Yes, this is the end of the videos. I know there were a lot, but we wanted to remember it all. Oh good times Australia. I'm so glad I got to experience something like this. It was definitely worth it. I also loved rooming with Missy. She's great. I'm really going to miss her. At least I only have to wait til January to see her again. Yay!
Cheers!

Vegemite Experience
During this week of exams I have been doing anything and everything that does not involve studying. So earlier this week Missy and I went to IGA and picked up the smallest jar of Vegemite that we could find. So I know many of you don't even know what Vegemite actually is. Well let me enlighten you all. It is the leftover hops from beer brewing. Yep the Australians and their beer. They are so resourceful aren't they. We figured that we were going to have to at least try it before we leave (encouraged by a certain friend named Kelly Russell). So we asked our Aussie friends the best way to eat it. And each one told us toast with lots of butter and a thin layer of Vegemite. Of course all the Aussies love it. They have all grown up eating it as children. Every time you ask one of them about it, they always respond by saying, "well....it's an acquired taste." Sure it is.....
Missy and I toasted one slice of bread. We decided to only waste one slice on this endeavor. Missy spread out the butter heavily as I documented the event by taking all the crucial pictures. We then opened the Vegemite jar. Whew...don't sniff that stuff. It looked like rubber in a jar, possibly resembled chocolate. But don't be fooled my friends. It's NOT chocolate! No sir. It was very sticky too. Missy spread it out on our slice of toast very thinly.
Then we each took a bite. It wasn't bad at first. We both looked at each other, and were like "Ok, not bad. I can eat this." Oh no but wait...then it hits you. The taste lingers in your cheeks. And stays there. Foul. Nasty. Gross. Rank. Raunchy. Sick. Missy ran over to her bathroom sink trying not to gag. She wanted to spit it out. But I forced her to swallow. That was the deal. We each had to swallow an entire bite of toast with Vegemite. I'm so cruel I know.
Afterwards there was much teeth brushing and a good dinner to be enjoyed including some Australian beer (better tasting than the leftover hops in the Vegemite). The Vegemite experience was not delicious by any means, but a necessary one. Glad to participate in another part of the Australian culture seeing as I will be back in the states in five days. So crazy to think about. Cheers!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas?!
Really Australia? It just doesn't make sense to me when I hear the Christmas songs being played in the stores here that sing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" or "let it snow" or "walking in a winter wonderland." Must we get everything from the states? I mean your Christmas is in the Southern Hemisphere where it is summer. You have barbecues on Christmas instead of hot chocolate and such. Sometimes Australian culture just confuses me. They try to prove themselves to the world that they are unique, but are they really? The other night Missy and I were watching t.v. and it was a bit ridiculous because every single show was....American! ("How to look good naked," "Army wives," "Bones," and "Scrubs") I think they need to try harder.
On another note, Missy and I had a lovely lazy day yesterday at Pac Fair doing some of our Christmas shopping in the 30 degree Celsius heat! We treated ourselves to TimTam shakes from Gloria Jean's. I then had a kebab for lunch with some sweet chili sauce....mmmm.
Also I'm very excited about the possibility of going to the Gator Bowl to see Clemson play Nebraska on New Years Day!
